Our Class Blogs

April 29th, 2008 by

From our discussion yesterday, as you can see i’ve added each and every one of your blogs to this site so that everybody can check everybody else’s sites out.

Please get involved and start commenting on everybody’s sites at home! If everybody could please comment on the person directly under their own name, then everybody’s site will be commented upon at least once. Then go ahead and comment on the site’s of your friends. However, for the time being, please comment to their character not to them as the author.

I will also be getting around to everybody’s sites and leaving messages. Please remember that it is against the SAC conditions to be working on your sites at home – save it for class time!

Tips

  1. If you are logged into to your dashboard, then when you leave comments on other people’s sites, your user avatar will also appear on their site. If you are not logged in, i don’t think your user avatar appears, just your comment.
  2. Check into the email account you signed up with to approve other people’s comments, or log onto your dashboard and do it from there. (Under comments link).
  3. Once people have commented on your site, when you get back into class, you as the character can respond to their comment as part of your next blog entry!

SAC Tips

April 28th, 2008 by

Hi Guys,

I highly recommend posting or putting on a page your Statement of Intention: your SofI must make things as obvious and explicit as possible: explain the reasons you choose to do each thing that you do on your blog. The more detail the better, it can be altered.

Also, whilst completing the SAC, please remember the following:

  1. Orientate the reader – who, where, what, etc
  2. Describe the situation/problem the character is facing
  3. Discuss any resolution that takes place
  4. The above 3 points are influenced not only by what you say, but also by the look and feel of your site as well as the extra features you add
  5. EDIT! Unless you have outlined that you will be speaking in a particular way of using a specific type of language then you must edit you work: check for spelling, punctuation, grammar etc.
  6. Show how you are getting across either the structure or ideas of Pax’s work (via your Statement of Intention and blog).
  7. Ask questions and keep the ideas flowing at home so that when you come in you are ready and roaring to go.
  8. Check the criteria regularly to ensure you are completing the task appropriately

2 doubles to go (except for approved absences – you will get 1 more additional period on top of that)

Go for it!

Term 2, Week 4

April 28th, 2008 by

Hi All,

Thanks to those bright and willing sparks that attended the extra session this afternoon. To those who weren’t able to make it, we worked through the following with a lot of discussion about how to link Pax’s ideas to your own blogs:Extra Session info

This week we continue to work on our SAC in the computer rooms.

On Wednesday, i hope to give you guys an opportunity to begin commenting on each other’s blogs:

  1. Please leave a comment on this blog, if you give me permission to add your blog address to my blogroll so that others can find and post comments to it
  2. When commenting on other student’s work, please comment to the character/persona not to the author/creator to keep it all as authentic as possible
  3. Come and see me if you are experiencing difficulties with anything associated with the work at the moment

All the best!

Blogroll News and additional class

April 23rd, 2008 by

I’ve linked several blogs created by Kambrya staff members for you guys to check out.

Of particular interest for those who would like a little more info on creating blogs, should be Mr. Thwaites’, as that will show you ‘How to use a blog’ in 3 short films that he has created. Pretty cool, huh?

Don’t forget, Monday afternoon in D2 – bring everything we’ve worked on in class including the text. Feel free to invite other Year 11 students.

    Term 2 Week 2 a.k.a. technological difficulties

    April 16th, 2008 by

    Hey hey!

What a horror week in terms of getting everything to work when it should!

As discussed in class, please complete homework, specifically keeping in mind:

    1. check out as many blogs as you can, the more you know about them, the more you can use in your own
    2. purpose, audience, presentation/layout, style (language use etc.), structure and special features for each blog (remember the webquest)
    3. keep the addresses so that you can show the class on Tuesday- that’s right you will present to the class (Shock horror i know)
    4. a comparison between the novel and www.dear_raed.blogspot.com… If you can’t get to it through this, go through google and type in something like ‘dear raed blog’ and click on the Cashed site
    5. practice blogging! (Dale and Conor, send me an email with your sites please, you forgot to tell me in class). Ioanna, see me so i can go through with you before Tuesday.

Most of all, thanks for your patience throughout and enjoy your online experience!
